| The 2009 San Diego Comic-Con Comic Book 40th Anniversary Convention |
One of the great things about living in the Phoenix - Scottsdale Metropolitan area is that there are all sorts of other interesting places to go within a short travel time. Phoenicians go to Payson or San Diego to escape the hot summers. In the winter, it is a couple hours drive to be skiing in Flagstaff. And Las Vegas is about a 5 hour drive, or 45 minute flight.
Our broker, Michael Novotny, has a small hobby collecting, buying and selling comic books, and this past weekend he and his wife, Linda, made their 3rd annual trip to the San Diego Comic Book and Popular Arts Convention, in San Diego, California -- aka, The San Diego Comic-Con.
This is the largest convention of its type in the world, drawing during the four days a sell-out capacity crowd of over 125,000 attendees.
This year was the 40th Anniversary of Comicon, and it was amazing to walk the hall and see the displays, sales booths, and celebrities, or to attend any of the seminars, advance screenings or panel discussions.
But the biggest draw each year might be the attendees themselves -- particularly the ones in costumes, which in many instances look as good as their inspirations from the movies or comic books they are based upon.
Anyway, just for fun, here are some photos from the 2009, 40th Anniversary, San Diego Comic-Con (known simply as "The Con" for the thousands who attend year after year.
